Comment on Statement (A & B)
(A)The purpose of this survey design is to study the causes of arrest amongst youth in NYC Detention Center, that has a population of 1,200. Due to the high rate of arrest amongst youth, a questionnaire will be distributed immediately following their incarceration. A random sample of 150 people will be selected (from the 1,200) and will include youths aged 15-18 years old.
(B) The purpose of this survey design is to study the affects of mothers in prison. The population of women incarcerated has risen in massive numbers over the years. An open interview of 180 will be recorded , a open interview gives any mother in prison a chance to speak out recordingg the interview gives these mothers the idea of knowing somebody is listening to their story. The knowing fact that women in prison has risen in numbers over times calls for the larger number of interviews wanting to be conducted. After hearing these women speak out one should be able to understand the affects of coping being a mother in prison or awaiting trail , which seem to have many in common. The women in these survies will be in a range of ages 18-32
